Practical and emotional support for new families across Northamptonshire & Buckinghamshire
The weeks after having a baby can be some of the most overwhelming of your life. However well-prepared you felt during pregnancy, nothing quite prepares you for the reality of those early days and weeks - the exhaustion, the feeding challenges, the emotional rollercoaster, and the relentlessness of caring for a newborn, often with very little sleep.
You don’t have to do it alone. I’m Vicki Wilkinson, a practising postnatal doula with over 12 years of experience supporting new families across Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire, including Northampton, Towcester, Daventry, Brackley, Buckingham and Milton Keynes. My postnatal support is practical, judgement-free and built entirely around what you and your family need most.
What postnatal doula support looks like
No two families need the same thing, so my postnatal support is flexible and shaped entirely around you. Some families want hands-on newborn care so they can sleep. Some need feeding support and someone who’ll sit with them through the difficult feeds without making them feel like they’re failing. Some just need a calm, experienced presence in the room who knows what normal looks like and can reassure them that they’re doing brilliantly.
Support I can provide includes infant feeding support for both breastfeeding and bottle feeding, calming and soothing techniques for your baby, support with digestive discomfort including baby massage, sleep guidance, caring for your baby while you sleep, shower, eat or simply take a breath, support with older children, emotional support and someone to talk to honestly, birth debrief for anyone who wants to process their birth experience, and signposting to other professionals and services when needed.
You don’t need to have booked me as your birth doula
My postnatal support is available to any family, regardless of whether I was your birth doula. If you’re in the thick of those early weeks and desperately need support, please get in touch as I will do everything I can to be with you within 24 hours. If in-person support isn’t immediately possible, I can provide virtual support in the meantime.
